GIS-T 2020 Meeting Update

By General No Comments

The health and safety of our members, attendees, volunteers, staff and our host community is of utmost importance to AASHTO. After careful consideration, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 AASHTO GIS for Transportation Symposium scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 14 in Minneapolis.

Although at this time there are no travel advisories to Minneapolis and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has not recommended avoiding travel to destinations within the US, we are aware of many participant and speaker travel restrictions. With this knowledge, in addition to CDC recommendations regarding large gatherings and fears of the possibility of transmissions of the COVID-19 virus, we do not believe the top-notch meeting experience for which AASHTO is known can be achieved.

We ask that you remain patient with us as we work through the next steps to refund registration fees. AASHTO staff will be in touch with you soon to share how this will be managed. Meanwhile, please take steps to cancel your hotel and flight reservations as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate this fluid and multi-faceted situation.

If you have any questions, please contact AASHTO’s Director, Meeting & Member Services, Monica Russell.

Sincerely,

Jim Tymon
AASHTO Executive Director
